Paeonia sinjiangensis is a native peony, endemic to the province of Xinjiang in western China. The new species was discovered there in 1979.
Paeonia sinjiangensis shares charactersitics with [Paeonia anomala]] of having finely cut leaves, and with Paeonia veitchii of having flowers in colours from pink to magenta, yet differs by carrying only one flower per stem. [1]
